wireless connection

I have an 8200 inspirion--40 GB, 512 MB, tag #G5HJT11.

I once had a wireless system with comcast cable. When they first set it up they had to fake the computer to get the internet connection--(had no idea what they were talking about) but it worked for a while. Then it started blowing the pc card --not once but 2X's--On the 3rd time-- it worked sometimes then it wouldn't (pc card). Called comcast--service mgr came to the house--worked on it over hour--checked all their equipmet (OK) said it must be a problem inside my computer to contact Dell. I have no problem with the hard connection.

Can anyone help me???

Thanks in advance

From your Service Tag, I see you did not get a wireless card with your 8200.  You talk abot a PC Card, so you've added one.  Please tell us what card you have, and what router or WAP (Wireless Access Point) you have.  Also what version of Windows you are using - W2k or XP?

Ok, as I envision this, there is the Comcast cable connected to a cable modem, then the Linksys router connected to the cable modem, and then you are trying to connect to the Linksys router wirelessly using a Linksys wireless card.

As a first step, I would go to the Linksys site and download the latest firmware for the router, then the latest driver for the wireless card you have, and get them installed.  If that doesn't get things going, post back with that is happening after those changes.

Also, uncheck the box that has Windows handling the wireless connections and use the Linksys Utility to handle the wireless connections.
