i have read most of the tips and procedures on this topic already. i can connect tothe internet via my router with an ethernet cable. wireless, i get the message that i'm connected, all the icons are telling me the right things, excellent signal strength, etc, but the browser is not connecting to the internet.
My system is 4 hours old, it just came today. Inspiron 9200 XP professional,
Does your wireless adapter (which one?) receive a correct IP address from your router (which router?), or is it autoassigning an IP address beginning with 169.254? If that's what's happening, there may be a mismatch between the security settings in your router and the settings for the wireless adapter. Have you set MAC address restrictions in the router? If so, you'll need to add the MAC address of your 9200's wireless adapter to the list.
i have the 1350 truemobile mpci card in my inspiron xps the card worked when i first got the system but i wiped the hard drive and put everything back on it and i get no wireless connections available so im wondering what settings i must have wrong because ive looked and they look right to me.
Did you follow all the steps in the
Inspiron XPS reinstall guide? If the system is recent, did you use the system restore feature described in the reinstall guide? If you reformatted and installed from the XP and Drivers and Utilities CD, did you reinstall the chipset drivers?
Is your wireless router (which one?) broadcasting its SSID? If there are security settings on the router, did you add them (WEP/WPA) to the wireless client on the XPS?
