Wireless not working

Hi

I've been trying to connect to my home wi-fi through my laptop (Studio 1735) which has a built in wireless card.

I've connected through the control panel, and everything looks fine, but when I go on Internet Explorer, it says the page can't be displayed.  Likewise, any other program I try to use won't work.  Does anyone know what the problem is?

Hard to answer without any facts. You must have 1. Broadband Internet Provider and modem, 2. Wireless router or wireless broadband modem--router is better. 3. A home network setup properly so you can share the broadband connection. Look up Wireless Networking in Vista's Help file for the basics. Vista's Network and Sharing Center will help you connect to your home network.

    Thanks for replying.

I'm at uni and am currently at home on holiday.  My mum has a working wireless network and her computer is connected to it.

I've also tried connecting to my uni's wi-fi and get the same problem - when I connect it shows as connected on Windows.  However, I can't connect to the internet, it's as though something is blocking it.  Is there a driver I should d/l?  I installed the Dell Wireless Lan driver from their website.

Have you both downloaded/installed the latest network drivers (Broadcom controller and wireless card) for your respective systems, off the Dell website?

Yep, I just unistalled and re-installed it there and still not getting on the net, even though it is showing as connected with a 'very good' signal on the taskbar.

I'm going to email Dell about this as I haven't a clue what's blocking the connection.
