wrt54g v2 = new favorite router
I've recently aquired and used two wrt54g's (both version 2). Have used v23 dd-wrt firmware. These things are surprisingly stable and fast -- and they have tons of functionality. Considering they routinely go for around $50 on ebay, they seem like a steal. Best routers I have ever owned or used (at the sub $100 price level), ever.
If you want to buy new, it appears that the open source firmware works on some buffalo and moto routers as well -- which maybe nice for people wanting models with more ram.
I've posted before and asked about everyone's favorite wireless router. I've found mine. If I get daring later, I'll try to enable to extra 16mb of ram that's in mine ... though I don't feel like trying to recover a brick at the moment.

I'm looking forward to version 24. I believe Brainslayer is developing version 24 concurrent with version 23 and that version 24 may have multiple virtual wireless networks.
Right now with v23, I can isolate a particular ethernet port, allowing it access only to the Internet and preventing access to my internal network. By adding an AP on that ethernet port, I can add public access without compromising my network. In version 24, I expect to be able to do that with just the wrt54g.
QOS and ability to directly manipulate iptables makes this really nice if no further development were to happen.the multiple SSIDs was interesting (v24). We don't have a use for that at our business right now, but I could definitely see where it would be handy for people.
I got it for QoS reasons. It makes Vonage sound a billion times better if there's a concurrent upload going on. The QoS features on the RTP300 the vonage came bundled with are next to worthless as far as I can tell

I don't know how to do that.

Yes. Brainslayer is doing a fine job with the dd-wrt software on these units.
