Anybody have experience putting a 3rd party SATA controller in their Optiplex 990? I'm looking at this one: https://www.amazon.com/SupaHub-Controller-Drives-Cables-Splitter/dp/B083WF95Q1/ but they state that Dell's BIOS blocks 3rd party controllers. That doesn't seem right to me? Perhaps they mean your boot drive can't be connected through the SATA controller? Basically I got an old 990 from my work with 6 SATA HDDs and I want to turn it into a NAS. The data being stored on it won't be important, so I was just going to do a software RAID. Anyone have experience with this?
