PowerEdge 2800 Internet connectivity

I have just installed a Dell PowerEdge 2800 Server that has 4 NICs I have configure static IP addressing and internet gateway, however I am unable to connect to the Internet but i can browse my local network. What could possible be the problem?

    Improper configuration and routing.

    If you remove all but 1 nic and can then get to the internet.


    Nics dont automatically route between each other.

    Its bad enough when 2 nics are in there.

    Removing doesnt mean physically. It just means disable in software via the bios or a driver.

    I disabled three NICs using Network Connections still having the same problem. What next?

    would suggest to stop "Routing and Remote Access service" to prevent making your server as a router. issue "route print" under the command prompt to make sure the default route is pointing to the ethernet interface of your Internet router.

    I solved the problem by using the ISP's primary DNS instead of using the local gateway as the DNS (which incidentally works for the PC's on the network).
