USB Problem

Hi,

Having trouble getting USB devices to connect to my server.  Always comes up us unable to install drivers. the devices (onother servers) use the defualt windows drivers.
have tried an external hdd & a usb pen drive.
Both these devices work fine in other del servers.

Patching & device drivers are upto date.  tried forcing driver install. Not sure what to try next. any suggestions?.. this is on a new (6month) 1950 poweredge.

TIA
Derek

Unable to install drivers imply's theres a hardware or permissions problem.

Use a powered hub or externally powered drive.

depending on how the server was installed it may be looking for the OS install DVD if there isnt a local I386 directory and Drivers directory on C:

    *8solved**

    Stupid stupid microsoft server....

After days of trying to get this to work, installing drivers, trying to install drivers... using driver findiing software. nothing worked.
tried installing drivers, pointing to install media, pointing to windws dir, pointing to windows\inf, windows\system32\drivers, nothing worked.

I then copied every usb inf file from windows\inf, to a seperate folder  & pointed to the temp dir. It worked, detected drivers & installed...

    learn every day...
