We have been using software encryption until recently when I enabled Library Managed Encryption.

The problem is that the Dell EKM software will keel over about half way through the nightly differential or full jobs and the backups start failing.

I have followed the documentation and best practices for this product, but I find it unreliable. Here is the email that I get from the ML6000:

Description: The library is unable to successfully monitor the communication path and operation status of the configured EKM Server.

When I check the library the ekm path diagnostics work fine. There is very little that I have found on the subject of encryption running on these drives.

Any help or advice on other methods of encryption that you are using would be appreciated.
