I have a Dell MD3600i which has suffered both of the RAID controllers failing.
I have sourced a new RAID controller card from Dell and have started it up. I have the Dell Serial cable so I can monitor startup.
I have connected my machine to the management LAN port and can ping 192.168.128.101 However i cannot connect to it via MDSM - note that I only have a Single RAID module installed currently
The serial console has this error message as its last entry. *********** 10/09/18-08:10:50 (tRAID): WARN: ********************************************** *********** 10/09/18-08:10:50 (tRAID): WARN: ** ** 10/09/18-08:10:50 (tRAID): WARN: ** WARNING!!!!!! ** 10/09/18-08:10:50 (tRAID): WARN: ** ** 10/09/18-08:10:50 (tRAID): WARN: ** This controller is not running the correct firmware ** 10/09/18-08:10:50 (tRAID): WARN: ** release. SOD is now suspended. In order to prevent ** 10/09/18-08:10:50 (tRAID): WARN: ** any configuration loss, you must download ** 10/09/18-08:10:50 (tRAID): WARN: ** x8.20.xx.xx release. ** 10/09/18-08:10:50 (tRAID): WARN: ** ** 10/09/18-08:10:50 (tRAID): WARN: ** ** 10/09/18-08:10:50 (tRAID): WARN: **********************************************
I obviously cant update the firmware as I cant access via MDSM. I'm happy to lose the data/configuration on the MD3600i if required.
when i run automatic detection (With my laptop setup on the same IP range, e.g. 192.168.128.100) nothing is detected trying to add it manually results in it not accessible
"the specified device was not accessible. The specified device may not be connected properly etc"
I note that the out of band management has 2 fields for IP addresses, i presume as its supposed to have 2 RAID cards in it?
It is possible to run with a single controller, but there are settings that need to be sent first from MDSM and with both controllers failing that didn’t happen. Is it under warranty?
No the unit isnt under warranty, we elected to purchase a RAID controller card from Dell to test that it would work. We would only want to buy the 2nd if we could confirm the unit was working (e.g for redundancy before putting it back into production) Do we need the 2nd card to get it functional at all?

Hi,
Does it give an error when you try to connect it to mdsm? We need to get it to connect to update the firmware.
