AIOC exe stops working:

I keep getting AIOC exe has stopped working as the computer attempts to find applications for using the printer for the first time.  The Dell-All-In-One Center screen is not available.  I have uninstalled and reinstalled the software several times.  I have unplugged and replugged the computer several times and reconnected the cable.  I can't seem to find the solution to this problem.  Thanks.

I, too, am getting the same error message.  My printer is a Dell 946 running on Vista Home

Premium (64 bit).  I am starting to look towards adjusting my DEP (Data Execution Prevention)

settings on my computer.... although I don't know if that is the answer or not.    My suspicion is

that the printer needs an updated driver for which there isn't any at the moment.

    RubberCrutches,

Try reinstalling the printer using the instructions located at...

    946 Photo All-In-One Printer owners thread (W7)

You MUST run the oatch(printer cleanup utility) until it prompts you to restart your computer.

Restart your computer and then install the proper drivers.

    Let me know what happens.

    Rick,

I followed the instructions that you listed, ran a few test scans, and it all seems to work well now.  Thank you.

I might mention that I "have" noticed in the past that the All-In-One scanner software (scanning a color document

to a pdf file) doesn't seem to like long, or complicated folder or file names.  Especially when they are several directories

deep.  Keeping things simple in that area seemed to help along the way as well.

    RubberCrutches,

Glad you got it working! :emotion-21: Thanks for posting back. Sometimes I scan to Open Office  then export it as a pdf to keep the file smaller. I noticed that sometimes scanning to a pdf can become a large file.

    Take care,

I just tried this and it didn't work for me. I don't know what else to do. I uninstalled and reinstalled several times, installed the patch, everything in the post and still nothing.

If you are scanning and saving to a file on your computer, try naming the file something simple and short.

I have discovered that this software does not allow long, or "odd" file names and characters.

After the file is scanned to your computer, then simply rename the file on your computer.

In my humble opinion, the programmers could have done a much better job in writing this software.

Personally, I don't like the results.

It won't scan at all. The AIO gives an error and shuts down. If I could ever get to the point of actually getting it to scan I wouldn't have a problem but it just won't do it.:emotion-12:

     Tracy_P,

I also forgot to ask, which printer are you trying to install?

The patch is really a printer cleanup utility and removes the printer and software from the computer.

     Tracy_P,

What is the make and model of your computer and operating system? 32-bit or 64-bit.
