Dell 1600n multi function printer keeps wanting to install new hardware
I tried to go to the dell website and install the drivers but that didnt help although the drivers were not easy to install and Im not 100% sure they are installed correctly. But whenever I plug my printer in found new hardware keeps popping up and as soon as I hit cancel it pops right back up. So Every time I want to use the printer which is all day I have to plug it back into my cpu and then unplug it when I am done. This has never happened with any other computers. Usually it is plug and play. But I whiped out my hard drive and started all over on this cpu and this is when the problem started. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
** The computer I am running is a Dell Dimension B110 it is using windows xp....
I usually work with Dell's Inkjet printers and monitor the printers board. I'm not exactly sure this will work but if you're willing to try this, it may work.
First try running Delete Print Jobs to remove any stuck print jobs in the queue.
Disconnect the printer.
Download and run the patch(printer cleanup utility) until it prompts you to restart your computer.
Restart your computer and press F2 when you see the startup screen. This should allow you to enter the bios.
Look for boot sequence. Make it boot from CD/DVD Rom, then Hard drive, then USB device and network last. Save changes and exit.
If you have the printers disk, then with the printer still disconnected, insert the printer disk and install the printer. You should get a message, the printer is not connected. Connect the printer at this time(powered on)
