V725w, changing ink causes paper jam

When we change ink cartridges, the printer goes in to print head alignment and the paper jams. It takes multiple (as in a LOT) tries to get the alignment to complete. This only happens after we change ink cartridges. What can we do to fix this?

    Are you making sure that when you change the cartridges the Jam Clearance Cover is Removed?

    Installing the Printhead and Ink Cartridges

    To install the printhead and ink cartridges in the printer:
    1. Plug the printer in and turn it on.
    2. Open the printer by lifting the lid
    3. Open the lid on the printer
    4. Make sure the jam clearance cover is removed.
    5. Press the release tab and open the printhead carrier.
    6. Remove the ink cartridges from the package and then twist and remove the protective cap from the ink cartridges
    7. Close the printhead carrier latch, replace the jam clearance cover, and then close the printer.
