Microsoft word document
The other day a friend of mine e-mailed me a Report as an e-mail attachment. The attachment was a report written on her new Inspiron notebook in Microsoft word. It showed up in my e-mail with the .HTM suffix, so when I opened it it was a bunch of jibberish. She e-mailed it to me several more times, but the same thing happened. Obviously, the attachment file has to have the suffix as .DOC What went wrong? I know she wrote it in Word.
Any advice would be great. I have a Dell Dimension 4600 Running Microsoft office, Windows XP with the service packs 1 & 2, and all updates as far as I know.

The problem is at her end. You have two options with the attachment if it is a .doc file which has been named incorrectly. Save it to your hard disk and either rename it with a .doc extension or right-click it and select Open with and choose Word as the application to open it.
If it is actually an .htm file (Word allows saving in that format) try opening it with Internet Explorer.
