microsoft word issues

Ive got a Dell Inspiron E1505, that is running Vista, as well as Microsoft Office 2007. I am a college student, so it is obvious that I would need to use Microsoft Word. There is never any type of problems until I get to the point where I need to save. It will bring up the box where all the files are, but then it brings up the error message that Microsoft Office has stopped working, and then it restarts. It usually auto-recovers the file, however you can see how this is a problem trying to do work at my hosue as well as library by using a flash drive. PLEASE HELP!!!

Are you trying to save to the flash drive or directly to the hard drive?

Disabling the Add-ins only tells me you do not have Adobe Acrobat 7.0 installed.

    Try this....

    Open Word
Hold the SHIFT key while clicking the File menu
    Click Save All

Exit, then restart Word. Does the problem still exist when you try to save a Word file?

I forgot, you have Word 2007 - the above isn't available....
    ***************************************************************

    Exit Word
Click Start, Run and type the following:
    %userprofile%\application data\microsoft\templates
    Click OK
Delete any normal files, then restart Word and see if the probjem is gone.

winword /  or  /s  is safe mode for word in general all it does is disables addins and macros
if this does not help you may have to reinstall word or all office. If you will have to do that  remember after removing office  to delete folloving registry keys : HKLM(local machine)\software\microsoft \office and HKCU (current user)\software\microsoft \office
You can also try deleting alloffice addins manualy from word folders under these registry keys

Office 2007 has a repair tool which (in my experience) works quite well. In Word, click on the Office Pearl>Word Options>Resources>and click on the Diagnose button opposite "run Microsoft Office Diagnostics". I've had a few minor problems and this has rectified them.

I had problems with Word 2007 on my old computer under Vista, but both Vista and Word were upgrade versions. I had Office 2007 pre-installed on this new system I just got last week, and haven't had a single crash so far. So if your version of 2007 was an upgrade version, or installed over the top of a previous version, that could be the problem. Either way, I would try a repair install first, and if that doesn't (or didn't) work, then full uninstall and reinstall is the best next step.
