Office 2003 SB Word runtime error

I've got a very typical user with a unique Word problem. Every time she tries to save an edited (or new) Word document to a network folder, she gets a file permission error message "runtime error 5487. Word cannot complete the save due to a file permission...". But she can save documents to her local hard drive. Then copy/paste them to a network folder - so no permission issues on the network folders! And Excel has no issues saving a file directly to a network folders.

She is using a 2008 Dell laptop (XP Pro) with Office 2003 SB. She currently has admin rights. The Office updates are current, the Windows patches are current. This laptop is used in an internal network. All files (includes documents) are retrieved and saved on an IBM 9406-520 Iseries machine.

I've uninstalled Office and reinstalled it but it makes no difference.

The most unusual part of this is that when a different user signs on (different user id), Office works properly.

Any thoughts?

Thanks in advance

This seems to be a popular issue when using SBS 2003 Server. On you workstation try this:

Search for offline files, select it, then disable offline files

(I'm not sure if XP has offline files as part of Control Panel like Vista does)

Thanks for your response. We are not using a SBS 2003 server. We've got an IBM 9406-520 machine as our server. She's the only user out of 20+ with XP that is having this very unique problem.

And "Enable Offline Files" is not checked...

Any other guesses? I'm open for ideas-

Does she have the same problem when trying to save an Excel file?

OK, let's see if the following helps

    Exit Word

Start, Run, type regedit. (She will lose any customizations, nothing else)

Find and delete the following keys

    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\11.0\Word\Data

    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\11.0\Word\Options

Restart Word and see if the problem still exists.

    Thanks Allan

I tried something else before you made a suggestion.

After coming across a suggestion to another user with a totally unrelated problem to mine, I ran winword /a and had no problem saving to a network folder, which indicated to me there was a problem with her one and only add-in.

I deleted the template associated with the add-in, ran the program that needs/recreates the template and all is good now...

Thanks for taking time out of your day to help!
