Dell R310 Windows Install on Internal USB
Ok help please. I've been pulling my hair out now for 2 weeks trying to install windows 10 to an USB drive on the Internal USB ports on my R310.
The drives are seen in the BIOS and also in Diskpart with a Shift + F10 during install, but not seen by windows 10 installation.
Installation is performed by a USB drive and I am trying to install to another USB drive which is 30GB. Windows 10 is the OS
I have tried
- updating BIOS
- installing SATA drivers for solid state drives
- Updating Perc700 bios fw
Nothing has worked. Have also used Diskpart to clean the drive and create a primary partition and convert to MBR followed by a format in NTFS.
Bios is set to BIOS and not UEFI, have set USB drives emulation type to HDD
Still, windows install does not see any USB drives at all, in any ports.
Please help! I'm going insane!

Hello @deanfourie,
I am sorry, but as you can see here: Supported Operating Systems for the PowerEdge R310, Windows 10 is not a supported operating system.
Windows 10 is considered a client OS and not a server OS. By that reason, it is not supported on a PowerEdge Server. And therefore, this means there are no drivers for this OS for the PowerEdge R310.
I can only suggest you wait for the response of any other community member who succeed in implementing this OS on a server.
