Not bootable device found

My Power Edge R520 server rebooted by itself and came with the error “Not bootable device found” I have a RAID 5 with 8 drives, after checking the status of the drives I found Drive 0 showing as Foreign rebuild pending and Drive 1 as Foreign Online. Any suggestions to have my server back online?

Hi, by (Ctrl+R), you can get to PERC to check out the  physical disks as well as the virtual Disks.

If you were on RAID 5, it is most likely that there has been a failure in a normal disk during rebuilding. Hope this helps and should you have further questions, please let us know.

The status of all the Physical disk are on the photo I uploaded, first one says failed, it tried to rebuild few times but alway fail, so I guess I need a new HDD.

Marco may have the same trouble I'm having - I can't see your attached image.

It is certainly possible that you may need a replacement hard drive. I would expect that to be the most likely scenario. However, with this being a 12th generation server, you can also obtain the RAID controller logs using the iDRAC. If the firmware is up to date, you can export a SupportAssist collection, open that file, and have a plain text copy of your RAID log. You can review that log to see if there are any other issues of concern. For example, you could open that file in Notepad and search for "punct" which should land hits for "puncture" and "puncturing" both. This is a good indicator on if the virtual disk may be reparable. If you see this message, I highly recommend *NOT* rebuilding the array.
