This might sound slightly stupid, but here's my problem:
I've got an Inspiron 5160 notebook, and after some extensive searching I am still pretty sure that it (physically) has only one cd-drive. Inspite of this, Windows' "My computer" lists *two* cd-drives.
So where does the second one come from? Is it a virtual drive some pre-installed software emulates? If that is the case, I'd like to know which software it is and how to use it (it's not like I hadn't tried to find out).
If it's not that, then it's probably some dummy for an additional external cd-drive or the computer's just completely gone bananas, but I'd still like to know anyway.

As you have rightly concluded your model laptop only has one physical optical drive.
How does device manager identify each optical drive?
This is what Windows' device-manager sais:
1) Generic DVD-ROM SCSI CdRom Device
2) HL-DT-ST RW/DVD GCC-4243N

Have you installed any different burning software like Alcohol or daemon tools?
The Daemon Tools it was. I completely forgot I had them on the computer because somebody else installed them and I never used them. (*stupid*)
