Diagnostics hanging while initializing SCSI.mdm

I am trying to run the Dell diagnostics on my XPS 420 because I suspect HD problems (my first HD also failed and was replaced).

The problem is, the diagnostics won't run. The diagnostics that came with the computer give me a runtime error R6025, pure virtual function call, while initializing SCSI.MDM. I downloaded an iso of a newer version of the diagnostics, and I get a different error: exception occured in module delldiag.exe. Warning: no line mapping found! this also happens when scsi.mdm is initializing.

Any solutions out there?

you can run the diagnostics from the drivers and utilities media.... boot the drivers and utilities media cd and run it from there

I ran it from the drivers and utilites media. That was my point. It doesn't run.
