I did a Google search of "Installation Failed: E:\I386\asms" and it yielded a handful of forum discussions. Some were quite lengthy and the different items discussed are too numerous to list here. Do the same Google search and read through the discussions and see if they are helpful for you. (Installing with a different CD Drive was a solution for one person.)
I swapped the drive out for a new one, and this fixed the issue. I should always remember to google things. this forum is super slow sometimes, but I figure I can get the most direct info from here pertaining to my dells. . .guess thats not always the case. thanks for the googling!
