Samsung CD-R/RW SW 252s Write errors
I have a dimension 8400 with samsung CD R/RW SW 252S. Previously I was able write CD, but after I used a CD written from A Dell DVD writer from another PC, it stoped working. When I write a file to CD, in the end it always says there errors in writing to my CD and my is no longer usable.

I tried uninstall the CD R/RW, and windows did detect the device when PC restarted, but same error remained when I tried to copy a file to CD. I also did try change DMA mode to PIO mode, same error remained.
I will buy a DVD burner and try it. I need a DVD burner any way. Just do not know which one is good.

Hi Texas,
Our Regulars here tend to recommend Plextor, Pioneer and Retail NEC drives, with honorable mention to Sony, BenQ as well.

One more thing, when I test the system from Dell diagnostics, it says the samsung CD R/RW 252S -- diagnostics not support. What does ite mean? the CD R/RW came with the PC.201

Hi Texas,
Lets start with a driver issue; click on the Cd/RW link in my post and scroll to Section 15, article 1; Section 20, article 3.
Also you might consider uninstalling / reinstalling your burning software.
Finally check that the drive is running in DMA mode and not PIO mode, same CD/RW link, Section 15, article 14.
