The “missing file” is usually somewhere within reach or downloadable. First task is to identify what file is needed, then where is it. The install program IS STUPID. The needed file can already be on your hard drive or on one of the install disks. Identify the file name, use search (all files and folders including system folder etc) to locate and then point the install to that directory. Don’t be surprised if several files are needed and you have to repeat this process several times.

Thanks Dave. I'm so glad to have a reply. The biggest hurdle at the moment is starting the computer. It starts but is caught in the setup routine. F8 and F12 did not solve the problem but that may be because I did not make the correct choices. Anyway, I turn on the computer and it goes straight to "Windows setup is trying to reinstall". When I first ran the installation disk and couldn't find the files it wanted it said the installation had failed. Until I get out of that loop, I can do nothing.

Problem solved. I found two sites which, in combination, helped me through the whole process.

After getting things running, I thought I had lost my files but they were there. After reinstalling the drivers and Works Suite, I was able to open them up. One hitch was that the drivers wanting an ActiveX8 and I couldn't access the internet so my husband downloaded it using his computer and we installed it on mine. Things are running great. Thanks for your help. It's nice to know people are out there willing to help.

GREAT!  Glad to know you got past the hurdle.  Lots of us have had the same experience.  I find tons of fixes for problems on my bench from sites like this, so I'm trilled to hear you are doing much better now!
