AWCC malware included?

Avast is telling me that it has detected id.heur.26 in the latest firmware that AWCC is trying to install on my PC.  Why is malware being installed on my PC by Dell/AWCC?

    @JosefR

    This is likely to be a "false positive."  Locate the file in Quarantine and upload it to VirusTotal for analysis.  If only a few anti-virus engines detect it, it is, in all probability, a false positive.  If so, report it to Avast and in the meantime, just add an exemption for that file so that you can install it.

    If this a BIOS firmware update, I strongly recommend installing it via the "Flash Update" method, accessed via the F12 menu at boot.  This greatly reduces the possibility that your BIOS will be borked if some other program interferes with it, including Windows.

    Good luck.  Have a great day.

    Regards,
    Phil

    Yeah, that's what stopped me, the advice was useless. I just gritted my teeth and ran it.

    I am also getting this issue but with a different AWCC version, I tried uploading it to virustotal but it does not accept files over 650MB, this file it 1050MB

    I've just had the same problem but with AVG - @JosefR did it run OK when you did it?

    Yeah, I get the alert every month now and have to make an exemption and it runs fine.
