Folks,
I understand the recommended hyper value per physical disk is 8 [Performance reasons?]. Any compelling reasons behind this number? I have also seen people prefer to use 8-way or 16-way meta devices in VMAX. I knew we have 8 DAs and 8 DAEs per Engine. Do they have anything in common?

And I assume we are talking about VP (thin) provisioning. In a thick environment, there is a direct connection between metas and the backend. With VP there is none.

No nothing in common. The 8 came from some performance testing that showed that was a sweet spot for some workloads.
