I recently downloaded and installed IT Assistant 6.5 on a Windows XP Dell Gx260 . When I click on IT immediately get a error saying that "Unable to connect to dell Openmanage server ?localhost' on port 2607.
Make sure that you are logged in as the administrator, not just someone with admin rights.
Then check and make sure that the it assistant connection service and the it assistant monitoring servies are started.
If they are started check to see if your NIC card is physically connected.
You should see a Sql server icon in the lower right hand corner, next to the clock. If it is not there go to
c:\program files\dell\openmanage\it assistant\bin\dcdbmng.exe. If you get an error message when you open this file, go to start-programs-administrative tools-data sources (ODBC)-system DSN tab, ckilck it assist, configure, and then click next three times. If there is an error,"database not vaild," uninstall ita, winbeep and MSDE, then reinstall it assistant.

To verify that the services are started and running go into services and look for the it assistant services. If they are not started go ahead and start them. If they are not there, then uninstall it assistant and do a reinstall of it assistant.
