Some basic info needed. We never had Dell servers until now. We just got R710s and we installed Windows Server 2008 R2. We want to be able to manage the hardware including the Perc 6/i RAID from a GUI interface. We received OpenManage 6.3 and Dell Management Console software with the R710s.

I read the instructions for OpenManage. We do NOT want to install the Server Admin web server on the R710s. So, apparently we are left with installing Server Instrumentation + Remote Enablement + Storage Management on the R710 and then installing Server Admin Web Server on another system for remote management. Is that correct?

Also, Remote Enablement apparently requires an SSL certificate. Here's the 6.3 manual quote: < >

What is meant by "the" Certificate Authority? e.g. vs. "a" Certificate Authority.

Also, the manual instructions for generating a request are horrible and also do not match W2K8 R2. Are there really good step-by-step instructions somewhere else?
