I am configuring a new Unity 550F. I am trying to add initiators and see that it is expecting 16bit WWNs. My WWNs are 8bits. How do I configure the initiators? I tried repeating the 8bit initiator (wwn8:wwn8) without success.

Normally it's a combination of WWNN:WWPN (node+port).
What kind of hosts are you trying to setup?
Normally after zoned, in most commonly used hosts, they should be picked up automatically by the Unity side (initiators).
