CloudIQ Collector OVA - No IP Address

During OVA deployment I'm entering the IP in CIDR format (e.g. 192.168.1.10/25) but the VM doesn't seem to be picking it up.  It's running with a 169 APIPA address.  Can I fix this at the local console?

    Hello richardm112,

As per the Collector Download page (Admin > Collectors)

VMware data will appear in CloudIQ within 24 hours and will be accessible:

    1. On a system configuration page:

Inventory > Systems – click on an array, click on configuration tab, click on virtual machines tab

    1. On a hosting storage object like a Pool, LUN/Volume or Storage Group and on a Host/Server properties page:
    2. Inventory > Systems – click on an array, click on configuration tab, click on storage resource pools tab,

          click on virtual machines tab

    1.   Inventory > Systems – click on an array, click on configuration tab, click on storage groups tab, click on virtual machines tab
    2. Inventory > Hosts – click on a host, click on properties tab, click on virtual machines tab

Note: The hosts are "storage hosts" meaning that they are brought in via the storage and not through the collector.

If vCenter is using storage from an array that has not been discovered in CloudIQ then the Inventory > Hosts

page may be blank.  CloudIQ does not have any representation of ESXi hosts here at this time.

    1. By a search using the “Global Search” tool (in the blue bar at the top of the CloudIQ GUI) by searching the IP address of a VM, or by the name of a VM, vCenter, ESX server, Cluster, or Datacenter that is being collected on by the collector.

Connectrix data will appear in CloudIQ within 24 hours and will be accessible on the System SAN tab.

Please let us know if you have any other questions.

    19. Select Next >.
    20. In the Propertiespage, enter the following information:
    • Hostname
    • IP Address in CIDR format (e.g. https://dell.to/39FKEZn)
    • Default Gateway
    • DNS Server #1
    • DNS Server #2 (if applicable)
    • Search Domain(s) (Multiple search domains are separated by spaces)

NOTE:  Not entering the IP address in CIDR format will allow the vApp to boot, but it will not be reachable.

    1. Select Next >.
    2. Review the host information in the Ready to Completepage.
    3. If correct, select Finish to deploy the vApp.

    Hello richardm112,

I would call into support so that we can look into this as it should allow you to insert IP address.

Please let us know if you have any other questions.

    Hello rezaul karim,

Have you done the prerequisites steps prior to install?  Here are the prerequisites that need to be done as well as a link to General procedures to onboard a VMware environment to CloudIQ

    https://dell.to/3qZwu1f

    Prerequisites
The customer should already be registered at https://dell.to/3g0Ao3j and should already have a supported array onboarded in CloudIQ.
The customer requires the ability to deploy a VMware vApp virtual machine that will act as the data collector.
The collector required read-only access to VMware vCenter(s).
The customer must be running Secure Remote Services Gateway v3.28.10.06 or later.
The customer must open port 9443 bi-directionally for access between the collector and gateway (centralized or embedded).
IPv6 is not supported by the CloudIQ Collector.

The CloudIQ collector vApp comes with:

    • 1 vCPU
    • 8GB Memory
    • 10GB Disk Space

Sam, we need to back up roughly 3-4 steps.  I need to give the collector VM an IP address.  The OVA deployment process is failing to do so.

Yes, step 20.  I'm entering the address in the format of x.x.x.x/25 (CIDR notation).

    • Default Gateway
    • DNS Server #1
    • DNS Server #2 (if applicable)
    • Search Domain(s) (Multiple search domains are separated by spaces)
NOTE:  Not entering the IP address in CIDR format will allow the vApp to boot, but it will not be reachable.

    21. Select Next >.
    22. Review the host information in the  Ready to Complete page.
    23. If correct, select Finish to deploy the vApp.
    24. Once the vApp is fully deployed, close out of the “Deployment Completed Successfully” window and power on
           the VM.

    Section 3:  Configure CloudIQ Collector
Note:  The first boot of the vApp will take several minutes to complete its initial deployment.
Note:  Be sure there are no special characters in the Dell EMC Support username and password.  SRS currently is experiencing an issue with this.
    1. Launch into the Collector configuration by entering:  https://
    2. Select GET STARTED.
    3. It is recommended to configure the Collector to utilize an existing SRS Gateway.  If deploying a new gateway see Section 4 – Deploying an Embedded Gateway and then return to Step 9 to create the local administrator account.
    4. Select NEXT.
    5. Enter Dell EMC Support username and password.
    6. Enter hostname or IP address for the Secure Remote Services Gateway.
    7. Enter SRS Gateway Port (9443 by default).
    8. It is recommended to leave “Validate gateway SSL certificate” deselected.  Only select this if your SRS Gateway uses certificates trusted by standard issuers.
    9. Select NEXT.
    10. Create a local administrator account for the Collector VM.  This is the user that will be used to access the Collector UI.
    11. Select NEXT.
    12. If desired, select YES, CONFIGURE to configure Active Directory users for the Collector VM.  Otherwise, select NO, SKIP AND FINISH.
    13. Upon successful completion of the Collector, select CONTINUE TO CLOUDIQ COLLECTOR MANAGEMENT UI.
    14. Log into the CloudIQ Collector UI using the credentials configured in step 10.
    15. Select ADD VCENTER button to configure access to vCenter(s).
    16. In the Add vCenter window, enter vCenter hostname/IP address, User Name and Password.  A read-only user account is sufficient.
    17. Select VALIDATE AND ADD.
    18. The CloudIQ Collector validates API connectivity and authentication credentials.  Upon successful validation, select CLOSE.
Section  4 :   Deploying an Embedded Gateway
    1. Select “Deploy a new embedded gateway for this collector.
    2. Select NEXT.
    3. If you utilize a proxy server to connect to Secure Remote Services, select YES, CONFIGURE and enter in the Proxy information and select OK.
      Otherwise, select NO, SKIP
    4. Enter Secure Remote Services Authentication information.  This will be your Dell EMC Customer Support user name and password.
    5. Select NEXT.
    6. Select REQUEST ACCESS CODE and an access code will be sent to the email address that is registered with https://dell.to/3iT6wH0.  The access code is good for 30 minutes after it is sent.
    7. Enter the access code and select VALIDATE CODE.
    8. Select the appropriate Site ID in the Site ID Selection pull-down.
    9. Select NEXT.
    10. The Secure Remote Services Gateway will now be provisioned.  This process takes several minutes.
    11. Return to Step 10 in Section 3.

Port requirements between the VMware Collector and vCenter:

The CIQC [CloudIQ Collector] firewall configuration is adding restrictions only inbound and it’s on port 443 for the UI. While there’s no restriction for the outbound ports, we know that we use the following:
    •           9443 for SRS related communications.
    •           443 for vCenter data collection (that is by default. If the vSphere SDK is running on anything else, it would also need to
                 be available)
    •           Either 80, 443, 8080 or 8443 for Connectrix switches data collection depending on the model and configuration type.

I get a SAML error following the link. I would really like to know that the recommendations are because the ova I just deployed has a valid CIDR IP, gateway, DNS and search domains set.

It boots properly. Says Container startup completed but I cannot ping it via its name nor its IP

@DELL-Sam L Hi.  Yes, all the steps have been followed. But how do we know the default username and password for this vApp CloudIQ Appliance, when one opens a putty session.  Thanks
