You dont have to use LDAP for multi-protocol
There still are ntxmap, NIS and local passwd/group available as well as a new functionality in Unity for default Unix/Windows user.
if you currently have multi-protocol accounts that are mapped through usermapper on VNX (not best practice) then you do need to change your config since currently on Unity usermapper gets disabled when a NAS server is configured for multi-protocol.
In a future release we are planning to enable this.

Hi Rainer_EMC,
Any idea when the future release will be that addresses this concern with needing Unity usermapper for multi-protocol?

Its in the next release
I have already tested it in beta
for dates please work with your local Dell EMC or partner presaleskeep in mind that you dont necessarily need this for multi-protocol to work.
It works well through the existing mapping methodsplus you can also use the default Unix account - which is a new functionality in Unity compared to VNX

Hey Anson,
You'll find some details in this document:
https://www.emc.com/collateral/white-papers/h15572-dell-emc-unity-nas-capabilities.pdf
Do a search in that PDF, and look for RFC2307.
