I don't know what irritates me more: preinstalled software that updates automatically, or security scans like AdwCleaner that scan out of the blue. I still get Dell update software running periodically, despite my best attempts to disable their services. I am reluctant to delete the Dell updates listed, wishing to keep them for a rainy day.
But when I checked AdwCleaner Quarantined files, I see that I quarantined DellSuportAssistAgent 3 weeks ago in mid-April! Yet here it shows up again, in another non-scheduled scan.
I don't see anything malicious in any Dell preinstalled software. I am concerned that these software are so tenacious and difficult to disable.
I am reluctant to uninstall any of these programs. I was just posting for information. I cannot disable Dell Update, but this program does not install anything without explicit permission/explanations. The other Dell programs I can't vouch for, or recommend.
Guess you'll have to give up one or t'other. Get rid of AdwCleaner, or find out how to stop it from running randomly, or remove Dell's preinstalled software.
If you uninstall Dell's software, you can always download those apps again from the Drivers/Download page for that lappy model, assuming you actually need them...
And Dell Update has a habit of reinstalling things that users remove so...
