Cant open Task Manager..

I am unable to open my task manager. Anyone have a solution to this?    Im assuming its some ini file I must modify. Or would simply reinstalling the latest service pack resolve this. Can anyone help me?

Thanks. I'm at work at the moment but will try that when home. I did eliminate a virus last week sometime and just noticed the unavailibility of my task manager yesterday. (when i press ctl-alt-del the task manager button is greyed out)   The virus was the type that allows someone to "take control of ure pc" (or something along those lines) according to norton. My guess is that the virus disabled task manager from loading upon startup to prevent you from seeing this process. Your option will simply open task manager if it works, correct?,   what do I need to modify to get task manager to open upon windows startup again??

Don't assume. There are many viruses that disable task manager. Try this. Click Start, select Run and type taskmgr then click OK.

Ok thanks Denny. That should be pretty helpful. I think the virus I had is one of the ones listed on the linked site actually. I did remove it so I should be able to open it using Ospreys method without it closing (hopefully). Assuming my computer is clean of viruses and I can open taskmanager that way how do I go about getting it to load with windows again? I dont want to have to open it this way upon every boot-up. Im assuming the reason that when I press ctl-alt-del and the task manager button is greyed is because the task manager process is not running?   So my guess is that when I eliminated the virus that whatever it had modified in some system file to prevent it from loading on startup still remains.
