"Could not write value Hardware ID to key"

While trying to download a update in my Blackberry desktop manager I received the message above in the subject line. I contacted support and they say based on my security settings, I do not have administrative permissions on my computer. To create registry keys, which is part of the installation process, I must have administrative permissions. I have a Dimension 3000 and Windows XP Home Edition. I am told the Home Edition doesnt give full administrative rights to users created in the control panel. Anyone know a fix?

Boot the system using Safe Mode and then log on as Administrator.

    See if that helps.
