Deactivates?  If XP isn't activated to begin with, it will cease to function after 30 days.

There is no "deactivation" process.  If you remove XP from your computer and try to put it on another computer, it will require activation.  If it's Dell OEM XP, then it's not legal to remove it.  If it's a retail copy and you are removing it totally and putting it on a different computer, MS will require you to call them to activate.

    From XP help and support:

You have a 30-day grace period in which to activate your Windows product installation. If the grace period expires and you have not completed activation, all features of Windows XP except the product activation feature will stop working.

Well i reformatted my HDD 2 times and now after the 3rd it says i reused the same activation key to many times thus NOT LETTING ME ACTIVATE IT. This is my 3rd reformatation and i have 25days left and don't want to buy a $200 full installation what are my choices?

All you have to do is to call the number the activation screen gives you and explain what you are doing . . they will give you a new activation nuber to key in.  Minimum effort.
