Dimension 8400 System Restore Problem

Hi,

I wish to restore my PC to factory settings. It was purchased about Feb 2005. When pressing CTRL and F11 as requested I am presented with the screen which says choose either of the following options. System Restore or Reboot PC. However the mouse cursor will not move and there is no response from any of the keyboard buttons. My only option is to turn the computer off via the power button.

Any idea what is wrong?

Your mouse does not work during boot. You must use the keyboard arrow keys to navigate to your choice and press enter.

    Hi,

None of the keyboard buttons do anything either. Also, when I go into F2 (Setup), I am only allowed to do one arrow down and then the computer also freezes.

    Thanks

I am having similar problems on a Dimension 8400 purchased in January 2005. I want to do a PC Restore to eliminate a Tojan Virus. I press Ctrl F11 at Start-up but it has no effect. It just continues with the normal start-up.

Have you been able to fix your problem?

I found that using the tab key moved the cursor to the Restore option on my Dimension 8400.
