Disk cleanup

Going to the start button, control panel, performance and maintance and then free up space on your hard disk brings up the disk cleanup option. One of the options is temporary files. Are these files created by windows? Is it best to leave them be or delete them from time to time?

Delete them they are not needed, that is why they are called temporary files. Any that are in use the system will not allow them to be deleted.

Make sure that "Compress Old Files" is not checked.

Compress old files doesn't really help me that much.
