I recently replaced the hard drive in a Dell Latitude E6420. Loaded Windows 7. Went to reinstall device drivers and I get a message that reads, "Setup is unable to recognize this computer as a Dell c omputer and will now exit." This is coming up when I install the Dell Dimension ResourceCD.
A dimension resource CD is for a desktop system - not your notebook. You can download all the required drivers from support.dell.com. Be sure you install the chipset software and if available, system software. Then reboot and install the rest of the drivers.
