Java 2 runtime

Hi, is it necessary to have the subject active (enabled) in "startup" programs to function for the OS. Thanks.

    I have JAVA SUN 2 installed & it doesn't show auto startup programs.?
    And SUN JAVA works OK in IE.

    Don't you have to select it in advanced tab of IE?

    Yes, and that's the only place it appears. It has no entry on the Startup tab of msconfig, which I think is what hardware was asking.

    Hi

    Just figured it out. I loaded the latest version (1.4.2.04) of java which has an automatic update feature that resides on the startup menue

    have downloaded the latest version  1.4.2.04  & your right it adds;

    SunJavaUpdateSched
    F:\Program Files\Java\j2re1.4.2_04\bin\jusched.exe

    to HKLM / Run
