Lost Administrator User Profile
Have somehow lost the Administrator User Profile on one of my laptops (Window XP Home). Can anybody tell me how to get this back or restore it.?
I appear to be defaulting to a secondary user at the moment and. of course, this means I have limited access. Any suggestions will be gratefully received. Thank you.
- Is this HOME edition of Windows XP? If I were trying, I would shut the system down and then use when booting up, select Administrator, enter nothing for the password. On XP Home where someone just goes in as "Owner" I find frequently that no password has been set for the Administrator login which does not show up except when booting Safe Mode.

After my system had been infected with a nasty piece of spyware or a trrojan that quickly wipped out important O/S files on my PC ,I wanted to perform a Dell factory restore .However going thru the process at one point it ask you for the administrator password which I had lost .I did searches and asked friends of mine who are programmers if I could somehow either bypass or locate the password on my system ,they all told me the same thing ,NO ! They recomended a fresh install of the O/S ,now my O/S is WinXP Pro SP2 MCE 2005 perhaps the home edition of WinXP makes it easier to get this password back ,however I doubt it .Just send Dell support a message requesting directions on performing a fresh install of your operating system .There are some steps you must take having to do with re-partitioning your hard drive formatting etc.
