Every time I get on my computer I get the message:
Microsoft outlook express 6 has been removed from this computer.
but it's still there, I can open it from my desktop, but it doesn't do anything.
It all started out where I can't open my outlook express. It keeps on saying
"outlook express could not be opened because it does not exist or is
being used by another application (0x800ccf65.2)' then another box
opens and it says " OUTLOOK EXPRESS COULD NOT BE STARTED BECAUSE
msoe.dll could not be initialized outlook express may not be installed
correctly".
So I was advised to download Microsoft outlook express 6".
I tried to download Microsoft express 6, and outlook express.
It wouldn't download because I supposedly have a newer version.
So now I have nothing - every time I start my computer I get the
following message "Microsoft outlook express 6 has been removed from this computer. Do you want to clean up your personalized settings of
this program." then there are a YES and NO box, so I click on the NO
box.
How do I get Microsoft outlook express 6 back?
I tried to follow all the download addresses i was given in microsoft.com, but it won't do it.
Can any body please tell me in laymans language how to do that?
Thanks you very much
Guessing you meant Outlook Express is the only problem, nothing to do with Internet Explorer?
I might not have the best answer but I'm thinking you could save the data (emails, newsgroups) files first and then uninstall, reinstall and finally add the files back in.
What I'd worry about most is finding the reason behind the trouble to begin with.
I'm not an expert at doing this but I've managed to move my OE files (mail and newsgroups and address book) by simply copy and pasting them.
Documents and Settings\(NameHere)\Local Settings (this is a hidden system folder)\Application Data (also hidden system folder)\Identities\{1A2B3C-4D... (folder that looks something like this)\Microsoft\Outlook Express\
All the files it has been collecting are in there.
Again, I stress the fact that there could be better alternatives for you which I'm not aware of, so take this into account please.
Ahhh, yes, the great Denny has spoken. Thanks, I've never seen this error myself. Interesting.
