NEED HELP AGAIN

Thanks for the help with the graphics board.  I still have a problem with my system memory.  When I upgraded to Vista, I was running my Dell XPS400 with 1gb of memory.  After the installation was completed, the OS was consuming 55% of my physical memory.  I then added another gb, (now 2gb) and now the OS is still consuming 25-30% of my memory.  Does anyone know out there what the problem could be?  I have been on the phone with MS to not avail.  Please help!!!!

Thanks, Bill

Welcome to Vista! the OS is working as designed. That kind of memory consumption is normal.

In addition to requiring extra memory for all the pretty graphics, Vista's prefetching will automatically precache your commonly used programs to speed up the system. This causes the system to use a lot more of the memory, and is automatically adjusted for the amount of memory in the system, so even if you had 4 GB, the amount used would automatically expand to take up even more.
