Greetings...I had to reformat my hd...How do I get a copy of the Sonic DigitalMedia LE v7 software( I might add, which I paid for!) that came pre-installed on my system? Dim. E510. I need the decoders. Thanx, Jim
If you didn't foolishly wipe out the Dell restore partition, you could have restored the PC to the original power up condition, which included Sonic. If you still have the restore partiton, do a complete restore using that and you will again have Sonic. It's CTRL/F11 at boot up.

Thanx for your reply..Here's the issue. I didn't erase that partition. The original hd is no longer in my system. BUT, I copied that partition's image to another hd that is currently on my system as a secondary hd. Is there any way that I can use that image and put it on my c drive and use the restore utility? Thanx for your time. Jim
You would have to partition your C drive in order to use it. You will need a "FAT" partition for the Dell restore. Normally, with XP your drive is formatted with NTFS but the restore partition will not run with NTFS as it basically DOS based (and DOS does not recognize NTFS drives).
ADDED: There are some posts on the Software/Windows XP section on restoring the Dell recovery and diagnostic partitions. Do a search on that section and maybe you will come up with detailed instructions.

If you paid for the full version of Sonic, Dell was supposed to provide the CD. If you only had the LE version, that's a freebie from Dell and not the full version of Sonic. Either way, you could contact Tech Support and ask -nicely- for whichever CD you're supposed to have. Have your service tag number handy. Don't expect the full version if you didn't already pay for it...

Edit: There have been cases where the user actually did purchase the full version of Sonic but Dell only installed LE. In that case, Dell should certainly give you the full version CD.
Well, here's my problem with all this. I ended up completely reformatting without using the Dell System Restore Feature, and did everything manually myself. After an excruciatingly long process involving manually downloading everything from the Dell website again, I've discovered that I'm missing the DvD codecs that came with my computer. Unless I'm wrong, this was included with the Sonic package that came with my computer. However, I am no longer under warranty, so Tech Support will not deal with me, and although I completed the form asking Dell to send me a copy of my system install CD's (which supposedly included everything that was on my computer when it was shipped to me), all I've received is a Windows XP install CD, and the Dell Support site only contains patches for the Sonic media equipment rather than the actual software or codecs themselves. My question is, how can I get copies of -everything- that was originally on my computer instead of just the operating system minimum, without having to pay for it a second time?
Try contacting Customer Service instead of Tech Support.
And as I said in my previous post, if it was the Sonic LE version, you didn't "pay" for it. It's a freebie from Dell. If you specifically ordered and purchased the
full Sonic v7 package, they should provide the CD, regardless of whether you're still under warranty or not, assuming you didn't get it with the system.
Otherwise, you'll have to buy whatever software fits your needs...
