I use Outlook Express as my email client for my Yahoo email account. The incomming server is supposed to be "pop.mail.yahoo.com", but everytime I restart the computer it changes to 127.0.0.1, and it changes my Account Name. I have no trouble changing these settings back to what they should be, but it's a pain, and I don't know where to look for the cause. Thanks.
A lot of firewall/antivirus programs will do this so that they can have the email go thru them before getting into outlook or outlook express.
It might be worthwhile to check with those programs.
Alternatively, depending on the email program, i know yahoo a while back required those settings to be 127.0.0.1 and another program to be running. But that setup would have never worked without this other program.
I have no doubt that McAfee is responsible. Unfortunately, I haven't been able to figure out how to make it go away. It's not a major problem, just a minor annoyance. Thanks for the response.
I completely disabled all McAfee services, rebooted, and Outlook Express still needed its incoming server info corrected. I'm not going to unistall McAfee right now, I'll wait untill I decide what I'm going to replace it with. Thanks for all the help.
