After installing SP2 my Dell 5100 Laptop won't start back up after going into standby. Before installing SP2 I completely zeroed out my hard drive and reinstalled a fresh copy of XP home. Prior to the new install I had no problems with the system restarting after going into standby. Has anyone had this problem? My virus protection is Panda Titanium 3.02 and have been using the Yahoo popup blocker. Can anyone assist? Thanks.
Try to update BIOS, drivers, etc.

Thanks for answering. I already updated the bios to A30 and after I reinstalled XP I only downloaded and installed the lastest drivers from dell. Chipset, video, sound, modem, touch pad and network. Can't figure it out. Any other suggestions?
Maybe strange that I answer in a Dell forum, buti've got the same probem with my HP Compaq nx9010. And i'm not using any antivirus software. So maybe it is a more general XP SP2 problem.
I realize this isn't the answer to your problem. Have you considered using Hibernate instead of Standby. Most PCs seem to deal better with hibernate than standby, plus it is safer from a data-loss standpoint as well as using less power. I use hibernate on all my different PCs rather than actually using "Turn Off Computer", much faster than a normal startup or turn off. Just a thought.
Thanks for all the feedback so far however does everyone think that this is a problem microsoft should be aware of and shouldn't they try to come up with a patch? If others are having this problem I think that we all should throw this into their lap. The hibernation idea is a good temporary fix though. Thanks.
I spoke to Panda tech support last week and was told that Titanium 3.02.02 fixes the problem. I uninstalled 3.02.00 and installed the 3.02.02 and it has seemed to fix the problem. Hope this helps..
Just downloaded the Panda Upgrade and it worked like a charm. Standby works as it should. Thank you. I also replied to Microsoft and gave them the info also. Take care and thanks again
I have a home built 1.4 GHz AMD system running, and it sounds like you have run into a problem that I might be having. I have also installed SP2 for Windows XP.
Ok this is my problem. When the computer is in standby, it will reboot randomly. It also reboots when I bring it out of standby. Is this similar to the problem you have been having? Has anyone else seen this problem? Also, when I log on after this spontanous standby reboot I get a critical error message. I believe a stop error with the following error coce 100000d1.
