downloaded some (possibly) registry cleaner software onto my r15 laptop. decided against using it and deleted it... however, it must have taken or corrupted some files along with it as i got two error codes:
the first one: 0xc0000145
the scond one: 0xc0000001.
the second one prevents me from booting up at all. i understand that i'll need my installation disk which, as the laptop is only 18mnths old shouldn't be a problem. however, if i can't find it, can i download something via dell site if i use my account number/windows numbers/etc? if so, can someone advise as to what i would need, specifically, if my installtion disk is nowhere to be found?
Thank you for reaching out us, Appreciate your time in explaining the issue very clearly.
Since you've made it clear the computer isn't booting into windows now, Lets start the troubleshooting by running a hardware diagnostics.
To enter the diagnostics mode, Please keep tapping F12 key on the Dell logo that comes up as soon as you power on the laptop.
Follow the on screen instruction and check if it throws up any error code. If it does, please respond to the same thread with the error message and validation code. This diagnostics will tell us if we need a part replacement or just the software to be mended.
Also I would like to know more about the issue, Do you get any options about "Safe mode", or something to run a automatic repairs in the startup?
Please try these steps and lets us know the outcome, we will be glad to assist you further.
first, thanks for the correspondence. i presume you are dell staff? whether you are or just a good samaritan, i appreciate your advice... (if you're from dell then it makes me think more highly of the company).
so, ran diagnostics and...
Pass PSA V4220 ePSA extended test pass.
All devices ticked, including complete memory and hard drive test!
But when i exit and reboot, 0xc0000145... then attempt to reboot and 0xc0000001.
so, diagnostics are fine but i'm still in the same position.
Any ideas how next to proceed? As i said previously, might have installation disk at home but sitting in london for the next couple of weeks and london is 100 miles away. I do have access to a desktop, if necessary.
just remembered something. after i deleted the software i downloaded, because i was concerned it might not be a good product, i tried to use the restore system software to go back to an earlier point, in case the roguw software had added files... it was during this restore that the blue screen happened.
Thank you again for the detailed issue description.
Yes I am a Dell employee, I work on Dell community forums helping the customers .
I am glad the diagnostics didn't throw up any error messages, that confirms there is no issues with any of the parts in the computer.
Now lets focus only on the software part of it. Since you tried F8 and other available options and none of them seemed to have worked, Please send me your laptop's service tag via private message,

I am having the exact same problem! A program called grime fighter came on through my virus protection program and I couldn't get rid of it. I ran a bootscan and was told their was a virus callex epic scale, but it couldn't be but in the chest or deleted. That's when I did a system restore which got me the same blue screen and error message described in this thread. Help!
This is exactly what has happened to me. I had issues with AdChoices showing up and couldn't get rid of it no matter what I tried - I tried Avast, Iobit tools, Malwarebytes, SpyBot, and Adaware. It was suggested I restore to a previous restore point. When I did this, I received the exact two error codes when my laptop triied to restart, the first being 0xc0000145. My laptop passed the hardware diagnostics without issue. I have access to another laptop and using that now. But there isn't anything I've found that will help. I can boot with my thumb drive, and get to a dos prompt to switch to the C drive. But I have no idea if there are any command line commands that can help. Suggestions?
