Vista System Restore problem

I'm dual booting XP and Vista on my e1505. The Vista Help program says that when I'm running Vista and I set up restore points, they will be erased when I reboot to XP.
Is there anyway to prevent this as I'm using Vista's Sys. Restore to help me load up all my stuff on this new partition.

Are Vista and XP on the same partition?

I started out with XP on C: , I then used Partition Magic on C: to create a D: (about 25 gb). I installed a purchased, full version of Vista Home Premium (I used the included MS guide for my install procedure.....Fast, Simple & no Yellow Flags in Device Mgr.).
Machine is running Great, unbelievably faster than XP. I sure hope there is a cure or a workaround for the Restore Point erasing problem.
