Windows Messenger

After using Windows Media Center for the first time a Windows Messenger Icons began to show up.  I had been using Real Player up to now. Did Windows messenger sneak in with Microsoft Media Center? Anyway how do you get rid of Windows Messenger? It doesn't show up in Add/Remove Programs.

In Media Center, go to Settings | Messenger and Caller ID.  Uncheck the option "allow instant messages within Media Center".
