Windows Messenger

First mod's I do apologize if this is not the correct place to post if it is not please do move it to the appropriate area...

This is my problem

I bought a Dell Computer for both my daughter and my mother

I set up their windows messenger so that they could talk with each other and with me.

They both used windows messenger daily until one day they could not login

it claims their password is incorrect

However when I log into their account using my windows messenger on my non-dell computer I have no problem logging into their account

therefore I know this is not an MSN issue as their accounts work fine on a non-Dell Computer it's only not working on Their computer.

I've tried to figure it out on my own to no avail and now am coming here hoping someone has experienced something similiar that can help me. As I stated I have 4 computers in my house 1 dell, 2 gateways and one compaq. The ONLY computer having problems is the dell.. The other three computers are able to log into windows messenger with no problem and all of them can log into my daughter's account on their computer. My daughter can't log into her account on her Dell computer and I can't loginto my MSN account on her windows messenger either. and the fact that my mother is now experiencing the same problem with her Dell the only correlation between the two is the fact they are both using Dell computers. Anyone have any advise?

well I didn't see an edit button so I will add a reply to add something I forgot. I also checked to ensure that the Windows messenger was uptodate and also cut off the firewall to see if that would allow login neither helped.

One thing I was thinking, get rid of windows messenger and use msn messenger instead.  Windows messenger is outdated.  If you are using msn messenger (updated to latest version) then I have found a problem that if another person has logged onto hotmail or other .NET service and didn't sign out of everything, then it will also give you this error.  You can also remove all of the "network passwords" under control panel>>user accounts>> select an account then in the top left click "manage my network passwords" and del them all and start over.  Hope that helps you out!

Thanks for your suggestions unfortunately they did not work. On my daughter's computer my wife did install the latest MSN messenger to see if that would help but she gets errors when trying to login using MSN too. We did try the removing passwords on daughter's computer but it did not help

    anyone else have any suggestions?
