I was able to upgrade to windows 10 without incident.
Recently, the computer has been giving a frowny faced blue screen informing me that:
IRQ NOT LESS OR EQUAL iastorA.sys
Eventually that error was inhibiting the boot process every time. I was able to get into the bios menu and somehow into windows one more time.
After some research into iastorA.sys, I installed the latest Intel Rapid Storage Technology drivers. (I have a 240GB mSATA SSD + the 2tb HD) At the end of that process, I reluctantly agreed to the required reboot. (A decision I now wholly regret.)
When it reboots, there is no dell logo. The backlight comes on for a second but there's nothing onscreen - then it goes off again. I cannot press any buttons to get into bios. Worst of all, the USB ports are not activated so I can't boot from a USB drive. ( I can use the buttons below the screen to switch to the HDMI input, so the screen is fine.)
When I pull the ram, I get the two beeps. That's about as much of a reaction as I've been able to get so far.
Any suggestions? Or do I now have a giant & expensive paperweight.
I'm afraid I'm in a similar situation, with two XPS 2710 machines. Won't show Dell logo after boot anymore. With one it happened shortly after I upgraded it to Windows 10.
Some advice I can give you, is to not waste time with calling Dell support. You'll waste days doing that, and the only solution they'll offer is to replace your motherboard (for anything between $500 and $700). They won't guaranty that this won't happen again.
You might want to see if you can replace the motherboard yourself. Make sure you have the right version though! You should be able to find a refurbished one for around $250.
Having said that, you might run into the same problem, again. I replaced one motherboard a few months ago, and last week it failed. Same symptoms, same result. There's no way I am trying this again.
After almost two decades of buying Dell (spending a small fortune), and having to deal with their support and ridiculous pricing, I'll just take my loss and I'll build my own PC's again out of separate components. It's cheaper, better quality, and if something messes up you won't have to replace half your computer for the price of a new one. Especially for those with an AIO computer, having anything broken is pretty much always "The worst case scenario".
It's an expensive lesson. But those usually are the ones you will remember.
After one month of working with Windows 10 (upgraded from Windows 8.1) on my XPS One 2710 without problems, a few days ago I got problems with my Start-menu. When i opened the startmenu a critical error was displayed suggesting to signout and sign in again to get rid of the problem. After trying diverse suggestions from the Facebook account of Windows I decided to try refresh Windows 10: unsuccessful. After reboot I got the message nothing was changed. My Start-menu problem still resisted. So I decided to try to boot with my Reapirdisc Windows 10 64 bit. But booting was not possible. "Your PC ran into a problem and needs to restart". After doing it this messages repeated. I tried the same with a repair disc of Windows 8 and that finally results in the symptoms you write above: black screen after boot, no Dell logo, not able to force boot menu with and... my repair disk of Windows 8 is in the drive and I can not eject it.
Exact same thing happened here after I installed new RAMs: all went well (16GB), then I rebooted, IRQ_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL and iaStorA.sys and then nothing... I'm ordering a replacement motherboard and I think I'll have microsoft take the blame for this (and perhaps try and recover some of the money paid for the new mobo from them)
