Aurora R13, Center/Subwoofer surround port

Alienware Aurora R13 has several audio outputs capable of 5.1 and 7.1. The connectors are listed in the setup guide as:

3. REAR R/R surround port

4. SIDE L/R surround port

12. FRONT L/R surround port

14. Center/Subwoofer surround port

Rear speakers connected to port 3 work fine.

Front speakers connected to 12 work fine.

The problem is when I hook up the subwoofer to 14, the subwoofer works but the center channel sound no longer comes out of the front speakers.

Do I need to somehow split the cable on the 14 output into separate Center and Subwoofer speakers?

    You need to select the proper speaker setup in windows sound manager. It has to be set to 4.1, not 5.1.

    Vanadiel, I have Logitech Z906 5.1 Speakers connected to the optical port.  I cannot configure these speakers as 5.1 instead they work as standard stereo (2 channel) speakers.  Can you advise me on how I can configure them properly as 5.1 speakers?

    @mhoyosSee here.

    Make sure each speaker individually works. 

    Note: Stereo audio files (music), unless recorded in surround mode, will only play back as stereo (2 channel sound).

    I checked the sound utility in the Control Panel for the Realtek audio drivers optical connection.  The Configure button is greyed out.  This button would allow me to configure the speakers as 5.1, what would cause the button to be greyed out?

    @mhoyos​ You can try this: SPDIF

    You can also just simulate surround sound, as that makes more sense in general: simulated surround sound
