I downloaded the bios update released on the 31st for my r12 and now when I power on my system nothing appears on my display... what am I supposed to do
If you are trying to boot to a diff source, use the boot menu instead of entering bios. Restart your computer and start tapping F12 immediately without waiting for any screen to get into the boot menu.
Explain why you want to get into the bios for more help.
What do you mean by a different source?? I'm just trying to access bios to see if the resizable bar option is available, but after this recent bios update, I can f2 into bios when starting the computer. nothing appears on my screen as soon as I click f2, I tried f12 and the same thing. I have to restart and not press anything for my pc to start normally.
So when I press these buttons nothing will be displayed.. If I don't click anything the pc will start up normally, so it's impossible for me to get into bios. I even tried the recovery restart method and it did the same thing.
It sounds like it is related to the UEFI Vbios that would be required to get video output prior to the OS software driver.
Not having a proper one would typically get you no video during POST or upon entering the BIOS.
If you have not done already, please do a CMOS reset by removing the coin cell battery and using the jumper to clear the bios and see if that solved the issue.
Did this problem start when you flashed the motherboard bios, or did it only start after you also flashed the video card bios?
If it started after a motherboard bios update, I would downgrade that bios to the previous version. You should not need video output for it as it's an automated process that requires no user input once you start the upgrade process under windows. It will do a few reboots and should come back up once finished. Once started the process cannot be stopped.
If it started after you upgraded the video bios, you can do a flash of the video bios to a previous version.
Since I have never tried this I cannot guarantee this will work, and if it fails I cannot predict what will happen. You should first consult with DELL technical support prior to doing this, as a last resort to try and fix the issue.
I have never tried this and I don't know if it will let you, but flashing an older bios to the Video card might solve the issue. The previous bios that worked would be the one to use.
I have the r11 and it just started doing this. I can't go to bios at all. When I open my computer, it doesn't show the alienware logo on my screen. It goes straight to windows start up. I remember downloading nvidia drivers though.

Okay so my pc will come on normally if I don't click f2 to try and get into the bios... if I click f2 after restart then nothing will display on my pc
